Hi Guys,
As promised a news update!
Well, good news is that the new Mappack 5 has been created and is under final bug testing. I have so far not had to tinker about too much with this gem. But as I say, bug testing is key to creating a mappack that will (in the end) play well. Usually it is either the original map makers errors that need tweaking or on some very rare occasions, conflicts with other maps already released. On the latter part, this can be very time consuming. But so far, so good.
I think I did mention also that some of these maps were originally "Objective only" and so I've had to convert them to FFA/TDM game-types. I'm quite pleased with these and like St.Renan and St-Lo have always been great maps and to be able to finally play them in other game-types is a bonus. So I do think we'll all enjoy these all the more.
Something else I wish to mention briefly and that is that there is also some excellent maps out there that fully support the mod "City Nights" a mod from a few years ago that was indeed very popular but sadly only fully supported AA and not Spearhead. For a while I've been building up a collection of these "modern" maps, that is, not WW2 themed and have been thinking of releasing them in a separate mappack on there own, just for LAN battles. The download will however be quite large as there is many maps that deserve to be included.
I'll keep everyone posted on what this will include. If anyone has any idea's about adding modern guns, grenades to this pack as well then let me know and I'll consider doing that at the same time. Bear in mind though that some guns are only compatible (I think) with AA- but i will look at it if anyone needs me to do so.
Talking of guns! Does anyone want the original weapons porting over from BT to SH? i have done a few already and they look great in game. But again, very time consuming. If everyone wants these adding, then again, let me know and I'll try and get this working into the BT & 1936 maps.
There will also be an "optional" download available soon for our server which contains some very good client-side mods combined. Such as the "mustard gas" mod and the "Mr Jingles" blood mod. Also included will be some new weapon sounds, new compass and perhaps new weapon skins. It is still very much in it's early stages, but already is looking good. The beauty of this mod is that you have the mods all bundled together in one handy pack. Besides being very handy, it will contain the very best mods around that only make the game more pleasing in my opinion.
Again, let me know if there is something you would like to see included into this compilation.
Nothing as of yet as to what news TopTiger has in the works, but whatever it is, it will surely be very good. Bombed Village 2 perhaps? We'll have to wait and see....
Best Wishes to you all,
-Bobbie-
