Hi Guys,
MLT's Soldier Summit is perhaps my favourite route in MSTS. Mainly because of the DRGW connection. But that said it isn't perfect - despite there even being a patch available. None of the trains have any A.I. versions and this really lags the route in certain places because of it. However, I still thought it would be a good idea to try out the route's activities and see how they really do perform even with this handicap.
DRGW 5503 East(d/l from Train sim with all the stock from the add-on) Provo to Helper Freight activity
Train: DRGW SD50 5503 Season Winter Weather Clear Difficulty Level Easy Duration 2:30 approx
I've just completed this activity without stopping, just under 2 hrs. When I first started it up it crashed to desktop. Same again the second time. I then turned down the graphics and it started up and stayed on. The yards are chock-a-block full of trains and freight which was causing the memory to flip. Once going though it ran well enough. There's plenty of big A.I. loads in here to watch snaking past you as you climb the summit. I noticed that they didn't always lag when things got busy and when the route was empty of A.I. trains it would start to splutter - very odd. The activity itself though is very good and requires you to carefully observe everything at all times. Red lights, speed restrictions and lane changing are all in here with plenty of notices from the dispatcher so you know what to expect. It does however require some real A.I. trains in here to make it run that little bit better. MLT should have done this with the patch. I'll see if I can make my own and try it again when they are done.
