Hi Guys,
Back on the Trains!
We have Soldier Summit by Maple Leaf now and this is a fantastic add-on to have a mess around with.
Look at the video over on Vimeo,
Get it installed if you haven't already.
(Check out my post on installing MS Train sim and the add-on's)
The first activity we'll try and complete is one called Castle Valley Load-out 1. It's roughly 1 hour of driving taking 50 or so empty coal wagons to the next destination. The route is long but it's over steep hills and through small out-of-the-way towns with speed restrictions in place. You'll occasionally have to stop along the way to let a train coming uphill - so keep your eyes open and your hand close to the train brakes for speed restrictions, red lights and other trains coming the other way. Have a quick go on it before you take the test and get the feel of the engine. I'll tell you now it'll do about 20 miles per hour flat out going uphill. So don't hang about - you only have approx 1 hour to complete the run.
This activity is the first one that you'll be awarded a certificate upon completion. They come in different forms/grades depending on how well you drive and the way you approach the activity. Successfully complete this and it'll be set into your driver's license - the more you complete the better the driver you'll become. The aim is to complete the course to the best of your ability and will take much patience and concentration in order to achieve this.
Oh...and watch the video over and over to get an overall idea of what you'll be doing and practice the course as much as you like before you do your test. REMEMBER just one mistake and the game will fail you.
