Hiya,
Since we are going down the road with BG42 on the modding side I thought it would be good to use this thread to publish any news of what is happening and when things will be released etc.
Firstly...their website - a good place to find out what is happening over at BG42,
www.battlegroup42.de/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=114
Surprisingly it isn't up to date this month. So in anticipation of their forthcoming patch (1.42, I think) head over to bf1942files to have a look at what is in store for us all.

It sounds great - can't wait......
Now for what we have been doing.
Well much of our old mod has been incorporated into this new one. So far things are going okay.
These are the new maps converted over to run in BG42 complete with all new tanks, weapons and aircraft. Most are still just "Work in Progress" but they all play well even at this early stage.
The Storm (formerly FH mod map)
Just recently started on this so it is the newest of the maps to be worked on. This is a great tactical snowy/winter map that is very hard at times. Most of the annoying wrecks (burnt out vehicles) have been removed and the map looks cleaner. The smoke from buildings has also gone to speed up FPS - and again - it looks better.
New features are (so far) 3 aircraft (instead of just 1) for the Germans. Snipers are back - FH removed them.
To Do All tanks need appropriate winter camo. Some buildings also need snow adding. Plus..some building not showing as yet - mainly FH models.
Tundra
Another winter map and one of our favourites. All tanks have been replaced with BG versions. Textures required for those and some of the little things like sandbags etc. Plays wonderful.
Winter Sturm
Another great winter map. Same as Tundra, it needs looking at with the textures for some of the buildings and tanks. Runs loads better than it did. Those Sturmtigers are lethal on here.
Giza
A lovely small desert map that is very difficult to win on. Complete with Pyramids it looks great too. Sad to see the V1s go from the back of the Katy's...but BG have said they are working on a flying V1 bomb in their next patch. Brillaint!
Hellendoorn (SW map)
My favourite map from SW. Another winter map that just about everyone loves. Looks nice with the new vehicles. However, there is a small problem with the middle bridge not showing up. I'm sure it's only a mnor problem - but so far it's not been solved.
Anzio (from RTR)
Always loved this level for many years. So when it wanted upgrading it was one of the first to be mentioned. So far we have the dreaded "bridge problem" similar to Hellendoorn, except this is 2 bridges. Hope these can be fixed. Many textures and buildings need fixing before we can enjoy this properly.
Monte Cassino (RTR map)
Another well known and loved RTR map. Not done a deal yet with this map. But the bridge in this level shows up? Don't ask me to explain it. Main concern is the massive monastery on the hill. So far - it doesn't show up. But we will fix it.
Eagle's Nest (SW map)
Perhaps the best well known SW map, Eagle's Nest is extremely hard to win on if you are Axis. Not any bridge problems on this level (wonder what causes this?) to fix - however - texture problems and a few missing buildings need correcting. The new tanks figure well on here. Haven't added Sturmtigers back in yet - may do so in the future.
Wake Island (formerly from a mod not finished)
Can't remember off hand what mod this did come with. It is similar in name only to Wake - so don't be confused. Needs a lot of sorting out though. The Americans only spawn with Jeeps and the aircraft is very limited. BUT..when it is fixed it will be a great level to play on. But at the moment it is far from complete.
Operation Nordwind 1944 (FH map)
Haven't tried it yet in BG - although I did a lot of work on it for the old mod - so it should run well
Battle of Valirisk 1943 (FH map)
Another map worked on for the old mod. I'll get it installed and see what needs looking at.
Plus about 5 more maps waiting until these are all finished. The levels causing problems with bridges are on a low priority at the minute. They may end up being the last ones to be fixed.
Keep your eyes peeled for any textures, either for buildings or tanks/planes and send them to me. Doesn't matter either if it's for winter or what. Desert textures are also of high priority.
What I really want is winter skins for the Elephant and Sturmtiger. Out of the two the Elephant may be the hardest to locate. Anyone fancy learning how to skin?
Last request. Vehicle identification flags. Look out for some good ones on the net. These were draped over all German vehicles so that they could be seen from the air.
(Useful for Peter to spot when he is flying - I know he needs them on :
That's it for now. All new downloads will be sent to Phil for her to post.
