Hi Guys,
Well we've owned this game for ages (and SH2) and can say to you all that this is one great game. Of course you know this already. But what we didn't know..including me was how great multi-player is. It's fantastic. It really is.
For those not familiar with what's what let me help & explain.
Well it's all about Hitler's U-Boats and the wide cold expanse of the world's oceans. YES..it is that huge. Anyway, you have to attack and destroy as much Allied commerce as possible to prevent it getting back to Britain and helping with the war effort. Sounds easy? Well no. Britain ruled the waves back then and had a massive navy that was well equipped and experienced. It was hard for U-Boats to survive for very long. The fear of Destroyers and Corvettes working the oceans with advanced detection finding equipment was a real threat. And it is that that makes this game FUN...and also, more importantly, historically correct. It isn't bang on...but close, very close, and you'll soon get a feel for operating your boat.
The graphics are lovely. The sounds top-notch. If the German commands bother you then run it in English. Game-play wise..well lets just say at times you'll be biting your nails.
Not only is multi-player fantastic, but the single-player career is a blast. Along with a campaign mission editor. Brilliant.
Is it harder than say IL-2 to get used to. YES! It's very similar to say Train Sim or even Flight Simulator 2004 - but not as hard to get to grips with. After an hour or maybe two you'll be soon ordering "Crash Dive" and "Hard to Port"
Get it installed and just play it. You''ll love it.
I'll post some pictures up for you to look at when I remember to take some..:-)
Oh..and thanks Phil for making this forum.
